Film Literacy KS1

Many KS1 teachers have asked us about the use of film to raise attainment and engagement specifically in KS1. Although the techniques from our KS2 project can be transferred to younger children, we wanted to run a separate project for teachers of children in Year 1 and Year 2.

This provision will help teachers develop the skills of decoding, inference, grammar and text structure through the accessible medium of short film.

There will be 3 training days delivered by Tim Bleazard and Phillip Webb (independent Literacy consultant). Philip will focus on how to improve reading and writing by developing the ability to analyse film and Tim will focus on fi lm making and the Pupil Film Leader Training.

The Bradford Film Literacy KS1 programme will be delivered at the Innovation Centre on the following dates:

Training Session 1 20/10/2017 09:15 - 15:30

Pupil Film Leader Training TBC

Training Session 2 02/03/2018 09:15 - 15:30

The cost is £425 per school (£350 for subscribing schools).
