There are three main choices when it comes to the operating system for tablets. At the moment iPads dominate sales of tablets, Google’s Android operating system is also widely used. Sales of Windows Surface tablets have been disappointing. As a personal device there is little to choose between Android and iPads, however when it comes to useful educational apps there are nowhere near as many apps available for Android as there are for iPads. The number of educational apps available for Windows Surface tablets is so small that it’s almost negligible. Windows Surface tablets have the advantage of being able to display flash web sites but as more and more companies such as 2Simple are converting their sites to be iPad friendly we don’t see this as such a great advantage.
