Leading the Primary Curriculum

re you leading Computing in your school and looking to develop your own knowledge and support your staff to deliver a high quality curriculum?

This course is designed for computing subject leaders and teachers with a strong interest in leading computing. Over 2 residential periods, you will gain a deeper understanding of the aims of the curriculum, develop your own subject knowledge (including developing strategies to teach the ‘tricky bits’ and identify the role subject leader’s play in developing a whole school approach to teaching this new curriculum.

The course will look at key principles within the curriculum, such as debugging, computational thinking, variables, creating digital content, e-safety, networks and hardware.

This is a residential course, fees include meals and accommodation for the duration of the course.

Outcomes

Participants will:

  • gain confidence in leading an exciting and enriching primary computing curriculum
  • learn new project ideas and skills to deliver the curriculum
  • improve your schools provision and delivery of  computing lessons
  • develop awareness of supporting organisations and resources available to support teaching
