The Bradford Learning Network (BLN4) utilises Virgin Medias fibre network and is future proofed for the rising demands that schools have on their internet connections. The network also allows for non Bradford authority schools to benefit from the BLN4 service. IPVPN connectivity allows schools to connect via virtual networks, enabling a secure sharing of data and systems. We understand that schools need a secure and reliable service, especially as they start moving towards more cloud based services.
Schools are connected via an uncontended synchronous FTTP connection (provided by Virgin Media) which links directly into the core BLN network and can be any size of bandwidth ranging from 40Mb to 1Gb.
|Connection Type||Cost per year|
|FTTP 40Mbps (50Mbps at peak usage)||£2,000 + £5.50 x FTE Pupil|
|FTTP 50Mbps (100Mbps at peak usage)||£2,500 + £5.50 x FTE Pupil|
|FTTP 200Mbps||£3,500 + £5.50 x FTE Pupil|
|FTTP 300Mbps||£5,665 + £5.50 x FTE Pupil|
PLEASE NOTE: The loyalty prices above are for schools who were connected to the BLN3 network only. If you are new to the BLN please contact a member of the team on 01274 434835 or complete our online contact us form for a quotation. Prices quoted are valid until 19 October 2018.
Connections can be upgraded at any time during the contract period free of charge with only the difference in the connection prices to pay. Upgrades take 15 working days to be applied.
Super Connected City Voucher Scheme
A number of suppliers are contacting schools informing them that they are eligible to take part in the ‘Super Connected City’ voucher scheme which pays for the installation of super-fast broadband. Schools are not eligible for connection vouchers as they do not meet the criteria for being a Small/Medium Enterprise.
